Appalachian Highlands Community Dental Center (AHCDC) provides dental services to the medically underserved and patients with limited opportunities for dental care in Southwest Virginia. It is the largest clinic accepting Medicaid in Southwest Virginia. In addition, the site is a residency site, training seven dental school graduates (residents) annually in a dental health professional shortage area. Located in Abingdon, Virginia, the organization is a community partner for recovery and restoration, providing cleanings, sealants, bonding, crowns and bridgework, fillings, implants, oral cancer screenings, periodontal (gum) disease, removable dentures, root canals, extractions, and blood pressure screenings. Since opening the doors of our clinic, we have served 21,553 patients in Southwest Virginia. AHCDC currently has a waitlist of 242 patients for new patient consultations, extractions, hygiene, dentures, and implants. This fundraiser will allow AHCDC to meet this need. Johnston Memorial Hospital Foundation has chosen Appalachian Highlands Community Dental Center to receive proceeds raised from this fundraiser.
