We hope you’ll use the Referral Book to develop new relationships with other VDA members, confirm that the specialists you’re currently referring to are members of the Tripartite, and as a reference for patients who may have a unique issue or live somewhere you don’t yet have a specialist in your personal network.
You can browse listings by both locality and specialty. If you notice that someone in your referral network is not included in the book, please consider asking them to become a part of the ADA and VDA. As an organization, our voice is strongest as our membership continues to grow.

UPDATE YOUR LISTING
Data in the book was current in the ADA’s database as of April 1 each year. The VDA team has made every effort to publish accurate information for each member and have communicated with members to alert them of their listing.
If your information is incorrect, please update your member profile at ada.org/login. That will also ensure you have the right information in the ADA’s Find-a-Dentist listing and in your profile on the ADA Member App.

What do I do if my listing is incorrect?
The VDA team has made every effort to publish accurate information for each member and have communicated with members to alert them of their listing. Data is extracted for publication on April 1. Any changes to information after March 31 will not be reflected in the current edition.
If your information is incorrect, please update your member profile at ebusiness.ada.org. For the most up-to-date contact information, please visit our online membership directory at the top of this page.
Why aren’t my other locations listed?
Due to limitations in space and other considerations, the VDA is only publishing members’ primary office information (Office 1). Many of our members have additional locations, which can be found by visiting the website address in the listing and on the ADA Member Directory App or by using the member directory at the top of this page.
Who qualifies for inclusion in the VDA Referral Book?
Current VDA members who have a recognized specialty that is included in their ADA/VDA membership profile. Members must be actively practicing and have paid their current year's membership dues by March 31.
Who is considered a specialist?
Regarding the announcement of the practice of a specialty, all members of the Virginia Dental Association are advised to refer to the ADA’s Principles of Ethics and Code of Professional Conduct https://www.ada.org/en/about-theada/principles-of-ethics-code-of-professional-conduct Section 5.H. Announcement of Specialization and Limitation of Practice which reads in part:
A dentist may ethically announce as a specialist to the public in any of the dental specialties recognized by the National Commission on Recognition of Dental Specialties and Certifying Boards including dental public health, endodontics, oral and maxillofacial pathology, oral and maxillofacial radiology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, and prosthodontics, and in any other areas of dentistry for which specialty recognition has been granted under the standards required or recognized in the practitioner’s jurisdiction, provided the dentist meets the educational requirements required for recognition as a specialist adopted by the American Dental Association or accepted in the jurisdiction in which they practice.
When will the next Referral Book be published?
The VDA Referral Book is an annual resource for VDA members that will be published each Spring.
Paid Advertisements
The VDA routinely features advertisements in publications including the VDA Referral Book. The VDA welcomes advertisers as a means of keeping its members informed of products and services available to them. Written standards are a means of assuring that such promotions are professional, useful, timely, factual, and will not involve the Association and its component societies in litigation or unnecessary controversy. The appearance of an advertisement in any VDA publication or online does not constitute an endorsement by the VDA or its components, except where such endorsement is specifically authorized and approved. The VDA unconditionally reserves the right to decline or edit any advertisement submitted.
