VDA Urges Governor Northam to Follow ADA & CDC Guidance in Allowing Treatment of Patients
When can I go back to work?
THE ANSWER IS IN TWO PARTS:
- Legally, April 25 – Since the Governor did not extend Public Health Emergency Order No. 2, the mandate for only emergency care will be lifted after April 24. This is, of course, subject to change as per the Governor’s office.
- As per ADA/VDA Recommendation, April 30: This is a recommendation set by the ADA and supported by the VDA and is not bound by legal authority.
To offer clarity and to avoid further confusion moving forward, the Virginia Dental Association sent a letter to Governor Northam today urging him to ensure that all Executive or Emergency Orders are consistent with the guidance and recommendations from the ADA and CDC. The letter urges the Governor to allow patients to have access to oral healthcare as soon as it can be safely provided according to ongoing guidance from the ADA and CDC. You can read the full letter to the Governor here.
GUIDANCE ON GOING BACK TO WORK
In the coming days, the ADA/VDA will be sharing a detailed guidance document on how to safely reopen your practice centered around minimizing the risk of transmission in a dental office setting. It will also include recommendations on PPE. This will be available at www.ada.org/virus.
