Visionary Executive Director Dr. Terry Dickinson Announces His Retirement
RICHMOND, Va. – (May 8, 2018) – After nearly twenty years at the helm of the Virginia Dental Association (VDA), Dr. Terry Dickinson is announcing his retirement from the executive director, effective December 31, 2018. Dr. Dickinson will continue to serve the Virginia Dental Association Foundation as its Missions of Mercy ‘Trail Boss’.
“As changes occur in our profession, it becomes increasingly important that we’re on our A-game and at the ready to support members and the board in our shared mission to be Virginia’s home for dentistry,” said Dr. Terry Dickinson. “You reach a point where you begin asking yourself if its time for someone else to take a look at the challenges we face as an industry and see if there isn’t a different, and perhaps better, way to approach things.”
The Virginia Dental Association has hired Kittleman and Associates, a nonprofit executive search firm to lead the search for a new executive director. A position description is available in both the VDA classified section and Kittleman website.
"We cannot say enough about the impact Terry has had, not only on our organization, but also on the field of dentistry," said Dr. Benita Miller, President of the Virginia Dental Association. "As we look to fill the executive director role, we hope to find an individual who can not only continue Terry's legacy but also help us further elevate the profile of the VDA into diverse markets and expand its stature through broader outreach."
