The Pierre Fauchard Academy, an international dental honorary organization, is proud to announce that VDA member, Dr. Ted Sherwin of Orange, VA has been selected as the 2023 recipient of the Fauchard Gold Medal. The Fauchard Gold Medal is presented annually to a person who has made outstanding contributions to the progress and standing of the dental profession. 

Dr. Sherwin is a past president and treasurer of the Virginia Dental Association and was awardee of Virginia's Distinguish Dentist award. He Chaired and Co-authored AGD's national "White Paper on Increasing Access to Dental Care." Dr. Sherwin was appointed to American Dental Association's Special Committee of Financial Affairs and the ADA Board committees of Finance and Strategic Planning and was awarded a Presidential Citation. He is currently serving in his fifth year as Treasurer of the ADA. A graduate of the Medical College of Virginia, Dr. Sherwin is currently a full-time solo general dentist and has a 25 year commitment to treating underprivileged children.
