VCU CE Course on Pain Management 2/10/18
On Saturday, February 10, 2018, VCU will offer a continuing education course, Safe Opiate Prescribing and Effective Pain Management in the Dental Office - What You Need to Know!” This course will focus on the new Virginia regulations for prescribing diploids and evidence-based guidelines for pain management in the dental office. The speakers, Drs. Omar Abubaker and William Dahlke, Jr. will review the rational and the intent of Virginia prescribing guidelines for dentists. Evidence-base management of acute dental pain and the management of patient with or suspected of substance use disorder will also be discussed in an interactive manner.
Participants will earn 3 hours of CE credit, which will satisfy the Virginia Board of Dentistry’s 18VAC60-21-106 regulation regarding continuing education required for prescribers.

As a reminder, any dentist who prescribes Schedules II through IV controlled substances is required by the Virginia Board of Dentistry to obtain 2 credit hours of education on pain management by March 31, 2019. This webinar also supports the ADA's statement on the Use of Opioids in the Treatment of Dental Pain.
