Update on Virginia's Adult Dental Medicaid Benefit Rollout
5/30/2023 5:58 PM At the May 19 Dental Advisory Committee meeting, representatives from DMAS and DentaQuest provided an update on the Adult Dental Benefit in Virginia. The adult benefit went into effect in July of 2021. The VDA lobbied for a 30 percent reimbursement increase, which went into effect in July of 2022.

VDA representatives in the DAC meeting, including CEO Ryan Dunn, President Dr. Cindy Southern, and Dr. Roger Palmer, also discussed resources being shared to assist dentists and their team members with conversations about Medicaid redetermination, workforce issues and recommendations for making it easier for dentists to participate in the program.
