Health Insurance Carriers Issue Premium Credits
The team at R.K. Tongue is dedicated to keeping our clients and VDA members up to date with all news regarding potential insurances. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused significant disruption to many small business and individuals as it relates to healthcare. Many have been unable to access routine, elective or previously planned care during the last few months. Due to this, many of our health insurance carrier partners have experienced lower claims volume. As a response, many are providing a premium credit back to clients.
- Anthem is providing a one-time premium credit for active fully insured employer groups. The premium credit will be based on your April 2020 invoice, and appear on your July 2020 invoice. Small group Anthem customers will see a 15% credit.
- CareFirst is providing a one-time premium credit for active fully insured employer groups reflected on their August premium invoice. For groups in the small group (2-50) market, the premium credit percentage is 10%.
- United Healthcare is providing a one-time premium credit for active fully insured employer groups. Virginia-based groups with less than 50 enrolled will see a 10% premium credit applied to July premium billings, which arrives in June.
There have been many changes to small-group health insurance from waived telehealth costs to relaxed rules around rehiring of employees. For more information around your current plan or to inquire about offering employee benefits for the first time, please reach out to the Employee Benefits team at R.K. Tongue for more information.
