E-prescribing Waiver Emergency Regulation - COMMENT PERIOD OPEN
Beginning July 1, 2020, a prescription for a controlled substance that contains an opioid will be required to be issued as an electronic prescription. This law may be found in the code of Virginia.
An emergency regulation has been proposed by the VA Board of Dentistry that would grant a one-time waiver of this requirement. Waivers would be granted ‘due to demonstrated economic hardship, technological limitations that are not reasonably within the control of the prescriber, or other exceptional circumstances demonstrated by the prescriber. The public comment period is now open and will end on January 22, 2020.
