Updates from January 21 Dentist and Dental Hygienist (DDH) Compact Commission Meeting
The Dentist and Dental Hygienist (DDH) Compact Commission held its second meeting on Tuesday, January 21. All ten commissioners from states that have passed enabling legislation were in attendance at the meeting, which was open to members of the public.
The commission reviewed the proposed bylaws and made various amendments to the composition of certain committees and requested that avenues for public comment be made more visible to the public. The bylaws were adopted as amended. Those amended bylaws will be available online along with the meeting minutes.
The executive director of the Virginia Board of Dentistry, Jamie Sacksteder, was unanimously selected to serve on the Executive Committee of the Commission in the role of Secretary.
The commission reviewed the proposed draft of the rules concerning rulemaking, making amendments to the provisions surrounding public hearings and notices of proposed rulemaking. They then adopted the rules as amended.
Commissioners agreed that meetings should begin to take place on a regularly scheduled, bi-monthly basis. The next meeting will take place on March 10, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. EST.
Meeting materials and registration information will be posted when available on the DDH Compact website at https://ddhcompact.org/meetings/full-commission-meetings/
In addition to the ten states that have enacted legislation to join the compact, thirteen states have pending legislation to join, including Maryland. A map of the states with enacted and pending legislation is available at https://ddhcompact.org/compact-map/
