Additional Resources for Fit Testing in Virginia

Jun 26, 2020
For informational purposes only >

We are providing VDA members an updated resource page with guidelines around fit testing N95 and KN95 masks and upcoming fit testing training events in your region. We will continue to update this information in the COVID-19 Hub as more resources become available.

OSHA has issued temporary enforcement guidance for respirator fit testing. The information below is meant to help members locate and become familiar with the current protocols. We’ve included some advice on where to find fit testing services and self-testing kits as well as an overview of what is involved in these evaluations.

Respirator Fit Testing Guidance

  • What are the Guidelines for Fit Testing for N95 Respirator Masks during the COVID-19 Outbreak?
  • What are the general OSHA-approved Fit Test Protocols?
  • Is there an overview of what is involved in N95 Respirator Fit testing?
  • Where may I find a Respirator Medical Evaluation Questionnaire?
  • What are my options for completing a fit test?
    • Many occupational health clinics and urgent care facilities in your area should provide these fit test services.  The information that we have been provided indicates that the average cost per person is typically around $125-$150.
    • You may also inquire with medical supply companies as many distribute fit testing kits.
    • The Virginia Department of Health is providing regional Respiratory Fit Testing Train-the-Trainer courses for medical personnel, starting June 30. You can find more information on those courses and register a member of your team here.
