VDA Legislative Alert: Tell Congress to Delay Enforcement of the Final Rule on Section 1557
On May 18, 2016, the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Civil Rights (OCR) released the final rule on Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and expected compliance starting on July 18, 2016. The final rule has proven to be unclear, and the American Dental Association’s (ADA) questions to OCR about the rule remain unanswered.
As it’s currently read, this rule will, among other things, require that your office post notice of interpreting services available in the 15 most frequent non-English languages spoken in your state. The cost of providing these services would be the responsibility of the dental practice.
We urge you to write your member of Congress and tell him or her to call upon the HHS Secretary for a delay in enforcement of the final rule!
Protect your patients and your practice. Take Action today!
