Dentists have until March 31 to purchase a reduced-rate license to legally show movies and other audiovisual programs in their waiting rooms and exam rooms.

Until March 31, the Motion Picture Licensing Corporation will be offering an Umbrella License to ADA members for $250. Dentists who purchase the license have access to a wide array of movies, popular children’s programs, educational documentaries and other audiovisual content to show in a copyright compliant manner.

A catalog of dental procedure codes, a visual tool for patient case presentations and a series of videos designed to aid patient education, are apps on sale in the ADA Catalog.

The searchable, easy-to-use CDT Code Check app for iOS and Android contains the most up-to-date CDT Codes, including 16 new procedure codes and 52 revised procedure codes. The app also features a list of new, revised and deleted codes so you can see exactly what was updated.

A Virginia dental clinic that has provided free care to indigent people during more than 30,000 dental visits during the past eight years soon could be shuttered due to a lack of funding.

Community Dental Clinic, which opened in Martinsville, Va., in August 2006, has provided more than $6.7 million in donated services to people who go there because they can’t afford to pay for dental care in private dental offices.

Introduced in the Governor’s budget, Medicaid coverage for pregnant women was approved by the General Assembly.  The program took effect March 1, 2015 for pregnant women who are 21 and over and enrolled in a Medicaid and FAMIS.

Sugar companies played a large role in shaping early federal research policy on dental care in ways that still hinder American public health, according to an analysis of hundreds of documents tracing an industry advisor's correspondence from the late 1960s. The documents show a clear link between the industry's suggested research priorities and those adopted by a federal program created to research tooth decay prevention.
