Dr. Todd Pillion, VDA member dentist, is running for the House of Delegates for the Fourth District House of Delegate Seat.  It is very important to take action!! A Mass Meeting will be held to choose the candidate for the Fourth District House of Delegates seat at Castlewood High School this Saturday, October 4th.  Registration will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. and the Mass Meeting will take place at 6:00 p.m. All registered voters are welcome to participate.

Washington — The Environmental Protection Agency announced proposed amalgam separator standards for dental offices and said it expects to finalize a rule in September 2015.

EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy signed the proposed rule Sept. 23 and submitted it for publication in the Federal Register, a digest of government regulatory activity.

Virginia will participate, Saturday, September 27, 2014 in the ninth National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.  Sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration, this collaborative effort between state and local law enforcement agencies provides residents with an opportunity to dispose of potentially dangerous controlled substances from their medicine cabinets in an environmentally safe manner.  Collection activities will take place from 10:00 a.m.

Dr. Charlie Cuttino and Dr. Anne Adams hosted a VDA fundraiser for Delegate John O’Bannon at their home on September 12. A practicing physician, Delegate O’Bannon is one of only a handful of health care providers serving in the General Assembly.  Delegate O’Bannon has a record of collegial public service and a willingness to consider divergent views in reviewing legislation.  He represents House District 73, which encompasses parts of both Henrico County and the City of Richmond.

The Dental Trade Alliance Foundation <https://www.dentaltradealliance.org/foundation>  just awarded a grant of $25,000 to “Give Seniors a Smile”,  a preventative care pilot study aimed at improving the health of seniors in nursing homes. The study was designed by the VDA’s Long-Term Care Task Force and is being funded through the VDA Foundation. “Congratulations again on receiving the grant from the DTA Foundation,” wrote Diana P.

Members can find health insurance options for themselves, their families and staff at the ADA.org health insurance resource page, which also links to the ADA-endorsed American Health Insurance Exchange.
