Dr. Bob and Martha McGrail hosted a reception for Speaker Bill Howell at their home in Fredericksburg on April 21.  Dr. John and Karen Rose served as co-hosts and other members helping with the event were Dr. Matt Caspersen, Dr. John and Linda Coker, Dr. and Mrs. Lloyd Moss, Jr. and Dr. Lloyd Moss, III.  The Speaker represents the 28th district of Virginia, which includes the City of Fredericksburg and parts of Stafford County.

Do you love running, walking, festivals, and supporting the Foundation?!  Well this is your chance to do all of these at one great event on Saturday, October 17th.  The VCU Broad Street Mile combines a street festival with a 5K Run and series of one-mile fun runs on the city’s major thoroughfare, Broad Street.  In addition to providing a fun, festive event, the VCU Broad Street Mile provides the Foundation with a fundraising opportunity.

A final rule was published by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) in 2014 that requires practitioners who prescribe Part D covered drugs to be enrolled in Medicare or opt out for those prescriptions to be covered under Part D.  This means that neither the practitioner, nor the beneficiary submits the bill to Medicare for services rendered. Instead, the beneficiary pays the physician out-of-pocket and neither party is reimbursed by Medicare.

VDA member Dr. Rob Strauss was awarded as the 2015 recipient of the Virginia Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons (VSOMS) Distinguished Service Award in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  VSOMS President, Dr. Jim Solomon and VSOMS Executive Council Member and friend of Dr. Strauss’, Dr. Brian McAndrew, presented him with the award on behalf of VSOMS during the VSOMS 2015 Annual Meeting at the Westin Virginia Beach Town Center.  The Distinguished Service award is the highest tribute that the Society can pay to a VSOMS member.  Dr.

The Virginia Health Care Foundation (VHCF) is now making student loan repayment funds available to help recruit dentists to work in health safety net facilities in Virginia’s dental professional shortage areas. VHCF will provide up to $15,000 per eligible individual per year for up to two years to match an equal amount of federal loan repayment dollars via the Virginia State Loan Repayment Program (VA-SLRP) for the same time period. For example, $15,000 from VHCF plus $15,000 from the VA-SLRP will result in a total of $30,000 per year in loan repayment.
