Applications accepted for ADA Institute for Diversity in Leadership

March 28, 2014

Deadline to apply April 30, 2014

The American Dental Association (ADA) Institute for Diversity in Leadership is accepting applications for its 2014 – 2015 class.  The Institute is designed to provide education and leadership skills to dentists who are members of racial, ethnic and/or gender groups that have been traditionally underrepresented in leadership roles within the profession and their communities.

Twelve applicants will be selected for the program which includes attendance at three leadership training sessions conducted by faculty from Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management at ADA Headquarters in Chicago on Sept. 4-5, Dec. 8-9, and Sept. 10-11, 2015. Participants will be reimbursed for their hotel and travel expenses.

An integral part of the learning experience is having the participants put the leadership principles and training they've received to practical use. The class members select an issue or challenge in their community, organization or the profession and develop and execute a plan to address it.

In addition, participants will be given the opportunity to network with ADA leaders, as well as leaders from the program's corporate sponsors and non-profit organizations, faculty, program alumni and ADA staff.

Established in 2003, the Institute’s emphasis is on fostering personal leadership skills. The program seeks to build a lifetime network of supportive relationships among alumni as they move on to leadership roles. To date, more than 100 dentists have graduated from the Institute and maintain a connection to the program.

Eligibility and application information is available at http://www.ADA.org/diversityinstitute. Applications are being accepted until April 30 and applicants will be notified of their acceptance status by July 15. For additional information contact Kristi Gingrich at 312.440.2598 or IDL@ada.org.

The ADA thanks Henry Schein Dental and Procter & Gamble for their support of the Institute for Diversity in Leadership.
