Course Description:

Dental practice transitions are all about succession planning.  We'll discuss the current landscape of practice transitions as well as transition options including associate buy-ins, owner buy-outs, mergers, full and partial sales and selling to professional management organizations.  We will review the typical life-cycle of a dental practice and discuss the steps of the transition process from the prospective of both seller and the buyer.  We hope this presentation will offer guidance for both the owner and associate, including the practice statistics each doctor needs to know and understanding the true value of your practice.

Objectives:

  1. Discuss the various practice transitions options: associate buy-out, owner buy-out, merger, full sale, partial sale, sale to professional management, riding it out.
  2. Review dental practice benchmarks including revenue, facilities, marketing, overhead, doctor's expense and net profit.
  3. The importance of a practice valuation and professional resources available.
