To all 2nd year dental students (2015):
The two hours I spent with you yesterday, I hope, were eye-opening and thought provoking. I am sure it was a ‘lecture’ unlike any you are used to hearing from your dental school faculty. Their responsibility is to prepare you to be a competent diagnostician and clinician. My goal is to prepare you for a ‘dental world’ unlike any we have seen in the past. My goal is to prepare you to be successful in spite of the challenges you will face as graduates of the class of 2015. I am happy to share my thoughts and suggestions to help you with the ‘success’ side of the profession via this blog. The success of this blog will, of course, depend on both of us- me passing along the trends I am seeing that are of concern to me and you asking those questions that keep you awake at night. If I don’t know the answer, I will know someone who will. If you would like specific speakers to come speak to your class about something that is of concern to you, we can arrange that (lunch and learns). We, the profession, want you to have the same opportunities and success that previous generations have had and want to help in any way possible. Those of you that didn’t get to ask a question yesterday, this would be a great forum to do so because I know many have those same questions.
Also, let me know how best to make this of value for you. Thank you again for your attention and concern. If you would like to email me outside of this venue, please feel free to do so. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org.
