CHICAGO, May, 20, 2013 —The American Dental Association (ADA) is rallying its membership to join a Mission of Mercy (MOM) charity dental clinic on Sunday, Nov. 3, in New Orleans, the site of its 2013 Annual Session. Together with America's Dentists Care Foundation and support from the Louisiana and New Orleans Dental Associations, the event aims to serve 1,000 people in need of dental care.
RICHMOND, VA -- With diabetes and oral cancer on the rise nationwide and high blood pressure a continuing concern, the Virginia Dental Association (VDA) is commencing a major consumer education program on the value of screenings to detect these conditions.

On Saturday, April 27, 2013, Virginia will participate in the sixth National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. Sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), this collaborative effort be-tween state and local law enforcement agencies provides residents with an opportunity to dispose of potentially dangerous controlled sub-stances from their medicine cabinets in an environmentally safe man-ner. Collection activities will take place from 10:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m.
BOSTON, MA - April 4, 2013 - The American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) wants to reassure the public that dental hygienists maintain the highest standards in infection control to optimize patient safety and health. The isolated incident in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in which an oral surgeon allegedly exposed as many as 7,000 patients to HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C through unsanitary dental practices, in no way reflects the level of care expected of dental hygienists.
CHICAGO, March 29, 2013 – In light of recent news reports concerning a Tulsa, Okla.-based oral surgeon, the American Dental Association (ADA) understands that there may be heightened interest in infection control procedures. Regulations for dental office inspections are determined on a state by state basis by the state dental board.
Most covered entity dental practices will need to review and revise their HIPAA compliance policies, procedures and documents such as Notice of Privacy Practices and Business Associate Agreements to comply by Sept. 23 with regulations effective March 26.
